Here's a good video on how it is to ride the PNR Metro Commuter. In a way it's enjoyable, in another not. Rode it from Buendia to Bicutan (inside MoHa / モハ 203-10). The trip was at around 3 in the afternoon, lasting for about twenty minutes (not sure if it's PNR rush hour).
I'm sure the situation is worse especially in the morning. Everyday I see a mass of people waiting at Bicutan Station. The trip at that time is performed by an EMU 203 (same in the video). And I'm sure getting in is a fight; getting cramped in is good enough. On top of that, there is also a mass waiting at FTI Station. I don't know if everyone that's waiting gets to ride that trip.
MRT isn't the only one facing congestion problems. As you can see, the train is jam packed, and the aircon is merely a fan since it's too weak to cool the coach down. The coaches, which can actually operate better than how it is now (not because of age but of capability), are hand-me-downs from Japan. You'd be thankful that those coaches exist; otherwise, deal with the dilapidated ones (previously donated by Japan as well).
