The Roman road from Manchester to Ribchester is known both south and north of Edgworth but was lost in the vicinity of the village. Lidar has provided some clues and we can fill in the gap with reasonable confidence.
It also revealed a surprise! Can yo spot a probable Roman fort? Its outline with double ditches is pretty convincing. A logical location too, halfway between Manchester and Ribchester.
