August 21 through 24 brought extreme warm weather with high humidity and that brought strong tropospheric ducting. From my location in Northeast Illinois it was mostly from the West, Iowa with some from Wisconsin, Missouri, and even Nebraska and South Dakota.
Some signals completely overtook local and regional stations. This is using a simple vertical dipole for 2 meters into the RTL-SDR.com V3 dongle. It's a dual-boot machine and I had Windows 10 up at the time, using SDR++ and SDR-Sharp to tune the stations. I switched to Sharp thinking I might use the co-channel canceler but I didn't find it very useful. Although, I could blank out strong local stations and I hear numerous others from afar but that's not quite what I was looking for.
Production was done on Xubuntu Linux 22 with Kdenlive, GIMP, and FFMPEG.
