Ducati Hyperstrada 939 : Long Term / 10,000 Mile Review. And apologies / thanks to the Coen Brothers for inspiration and some fantastic films over the years.
The Ducati Hyperstrada 939 - possibly the finest / most fun motorcycle I've ever owned - plus it's one that is practical, useful and reliable. I've owned the bike for two years and 10,000 miles now and the dilemma I have is what to do with it next year when it goes back (it's a PCP bike).
The only alternatives I can think of are:
Husky 701 Supermoto
Ducati 939 Hypermotard SP
Ducati Desert Sled
In 10,000 miles:
- It's had two services (600m and 7000m)
- 3 sets of tyres
- Pads / chain / sprockets all original
- Averaged around 51 MPG
- Comfortable on long journeys (500m +)
- Useful panniers
- Really useful centre stand
- Great heated grips
- Not used any oil
Such a shame they don't make them anymore. Still, in the UK I think they sold less than 20 last year. The engine lives on in the MS950 & Hypermotard of course and it really is a brilliant motor that you feel you can get the maximum out of, without going into orbit.
Only niggle (and it's a slight one) is the slightly grabby clutch - especially first thing in the morning when it's cold. With the razor sharp throttle it can be a bit 'sudden' however, once used to it, a bit of feathering will get you away smoothly.
Gear used:
- Canon C200 / raw and MP4 / Log3
- Sony RX100V / Log
- GoPro Hero 6 (somewhat temperamental I have to say)
Edited & Graded on DaVinci Resolve 15 Studio (Beta) - had a couple of crashes while rendering.
