Actress Melinda Dillon, a two-time Oscar nominee known for her work in Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Absence of Malice, for which she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, died at her home in Los Angeles at the age of 83, her family announced.
Dillon passed away on January 9, but for privacy reasons the family decided not to release the news until today, February 3, without disclosing the cause of death.
