The Maryland Department of Environment has launched a redesigned website for climate change that features consumer-friendly information about the science, the benefits of energy-efficient products such as electric vehicles, heat pumps and solar power, and this 30-minute documentary video, “Climate Change in Maryland.”
The website, mde.maryland.gov/climate, is mobile friendly and includes easy access to the Climate Pollution Reduction Plan published in 2023. Visitors can also find information about tax rebates and help calculate the cost of energy-efficient products when homeowners, businesses and property owners are considering replacing equipment.
“We understand that climate change is a daunting challenge to many people, so education is key,” said Secretary of the Environment Serena McIlwain. “People want to do the right thing and participate in a cleaner planet for future generations. They just need the right tools to join the fight.”
This 30-minute mini-documentary provides data and policies specific to Maryland and features interviews with experts from the department. The state has developed ambitious goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 60 percent from 2006 levels by 2031, to achieve 100 percent clean energy by 2035 and to reach net zero emissions by 2045.
