Hitler never hid his disdain for Switzerland and its form of government, saying in 1941: “Switzerland possesses the most disgusting and miserable people and political system, The Swiss are mortal enemies of the new Germany.” There were even plans of invasion and occupation of Switzerland by the Nazis, known as “Operation Tannenbaum”. However, that operation never came to be, so why was Switzerland not invaded by the Wehrmacht?
