Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has been luring thousands of desperate migrants to his country, amid promises they will let them enter Europe.
But instead, they are trapped in freezing weather on the Polish border, with no shelter or food. Earlier this year, the European Union followed by Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, imposed new sanctions on Lukashenko and Belarus for human rights abuses.
As Crystal Goomansingh reports, Lukashenko is being accused of using the migrants as political pawns in retaliation against the European Union.
