When performing certain plumbing installations you might need to know how to groove pipe by hand. A grooved pipe is used with specialty grooved fittings, frequently for fire sprinkler systems. This video will explain how to use the Ridgid 915 hand-grooving machine. There are various makes and models of pipe grooving machines; some are electric, and some are hand-operated. The Ridgid 915 machine to groove pipe by hand actually has its constructions right on the machine itself! It's a relatively easy tool to learn how to use. As a side note, a common error is not hand-tightening the ratchet nut enough before making the 1st rotation for the 1st pipe groove "imprint".
