I love what I do but sometimes I have to step back and realize that my business is not the most normal business you can get into. Where else do you accumulate tons (literally tons) of gear to support your profession? Yeah, maybe in construction, but in film and TV production you collect shit by the truck load because you NEED it. Or perhaps THINK you need it, heh heh!
I was organizing my kit and doing periodic maintenance today and had an off moment to reflect on my career path and handled it in my usual comedic flair.
What's funny is this doesn't include any camera gear (other than support equipment) so I don't keep ANY cameras on my truck because that is gift wrapping my kit for thieves. I keep that in my home. Those are another cart in itself.
Also I have jockey boxes FULL OF MORE SHITE so it goes on and on. This is not a business that you can get into cheaply. I have added to my kit over TWENTY YEARS in the business and TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars spent over those years.
But I started with NOTHING.
So it is possible.
