As developers, we’re writing more and more configuration to power increasingly powerful services and applications. But how do we ensure that the configuration we write meets community best practices and our internal policies?
In this talk we will:
Introduce Open Policy Agent, an open source policy engine
Discuss the Rego language used to write policies for Open Policy Agent
Show how Open Policy Agent based tools can be applied at different stages of development, from local testing, CI/CD and through to auditing production
Touch on policy as a tool for assisting with tool portability
Talk about why reuse and sharing are critical to scaling the use of policy based testing
We’ll also show lots of demos of testing different configuration formats, including showing how to use Open Policy Agent to test Pulumi
The audience should come away with some useful ideas and tools they can use, whatever configuration formats they are writing and whatever software they are trying to configure.
