• It’s a wet Thursday in the North Island, with localised downpours and thunderstorms possible for northern and central parts of the island. A Heavy Rain Watch remains in place from Coromandel Peninsula to Gisborne/Tairāwhiti, including Bay of Plenty.
• Tomorrow sees more settled conditions develop for the North Island, while scattered showers linger in the South Island. This continues into Saturday, however the next weather system delivers heavy rain to the western South Island, and a Watch for Heavy Rain is in place.
• Temperatures climb nationwide this weekend, particularly in the east, as humid westerlies spread across the country. Daytimes in the east reach the high-20s and even the 30s in Canterbury, while night-time mugginess will be felt by many.
