When it comes to ring binding memo size paper, 6-ring binder mechanisms are a popular choice! A binder mechanism is the metal spine piece of a binder, with no covers or boards attached; just the metal spine piece itself.
6-Ring binder mechanisms have the perfect hole spacing for standard 6-hole memo punched pages. The rings are in two groupings of three; each ring is ¾ is apart, and there is 1 ½” between the groups. The base of the spine measures 6-3/16” long, and there is a hole on each end. This hole is traditionally used with binder rivets, but depending on your application, you might also use screws, posts, or other items.
Six ring binder mechanism spines are available in either a 1/2” or 3/4” ring sizes. The ring size is determined by the inside diameter of the ring itself, at it’s widest point.
6 ring spine pieces are most often used for standard memo size pages, measuring 6” high and 4” wide.
