Let's see how much of a bottleneck the fastest FM2+ CPU is going to be.
I have to apologize in advance. I'm always using an Elgato HD60 S for recording my benchmarks but this time for no reason it didn't record the audio in 17 out of the 22 games. Therefore you'll have to listen to one of my techno sets of 2020 instead of the in-game audio. Djing is one of my hobbies for more than 10 years so I think this audio replacement won't be that bad. I just hope this video isn't going to be a copyright strike due to the music.
However back to today's system. Some words about the RX 560 before we jump over to the CPU. The RX 560 is still able to run all titles properly in 2021. It's impossible to play every game on the market at 1080p like when the GPU got released back in 2017. You'll have to reduce the resolution in demanding titles like Call of Duty Warzone to less than 900p if you don't want to play at a disadvantage FPS-wise. But it's still doing a really solid job especially in less demanding titles like Genshin Impact.
So if you're looking for a solid GPU that is still able to run all titles of 2021 the RX 560 might still be an option if you can find it for a bargain. In my opinion, the current price of $150 in used condition on eBay is a bit too expensive. I've paid $100 for this GPU a couple of years ago.
Anyways let's talk a bit about the CPU AMD X4 880k. I'm often getting asked of viewers on this channel: "hey, I'm still using an AMD X4 845 or some similar FM2+ CPU like an A8 7600. I want better CPU performance. What CPU shall I upgrade to?"
And I always repeat the same answer. Don't waste your money on a dead socket. I can only repeat don't waste your money on a dead socket!
Because listen, the performance difference between FM2+ CPU is nearly non-existent. There is barely any. This benchmark is a perfect example. If you look at my AMD X4 845 and GT 1030 GDDR5 benchmark that I've created one month ago you can see that CPU performance wise there is not that much difference between the X4 845 and the X4 880k.
So I always recommend switching to a new socket, new ram, and new CPU like a Ryzen instead. This might cost more money today but is a way better decision looking into the future than staying on the dead socket FM2+
But how well or badly performed the X4 880k. Not that bad. It only struggles in CPU-demanding titles like PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS, Call of Duty Warzone, Battlefield 5, or even GTA 5. Because in these titles the CPU is holding back the GPU heavily.
However, there's no title on the market right now that is that demanding CPU-wise that the X4 880k wouldn't be able to deliver at least 30 FPS. So it's still good enough for gaming in 2021. But I absolutely can't recommend upgrading to it because I see it as a total waste of money.
That's just my 2 cents on this hardware. I hope you liked this video if you did leave a like and subscribe to this channel. Thank you for watching stay safe and have a great day. I hope I'll see you all in the next one. Goodbye!
