Hey everyone, in this video I cover the birth of Warcraft private servers. WoW has been one of my favorite games for a long time now and with the release of Shadowlands it had me thinking back to some of my favorite emulators and private servers throughout the years. Did you know that WoW had private servers out before the game even released? Our story starts with Skull, a hacker known for making botting programs, eventually getting his hands on the alpha version of WoW and releasing it to the public. Then Lax, another bot maker taking up the reigns and publishing Stormcraft, the very first world of warcraft private server. It was extremely barebones, but it worked and for the first time in MMORPG history, players would get to explore azeroth.
