"We're holding a dedication and celebration for our primary founder Mary Lou Gardner Little," said soror Bonita M. Herring, International Grand Basileus, who along with perhaps a hundred other members of the sorority, dedicated a mausoleum stone for her. "We call her our primary founder because she is the woman who led the way," said Herring. "We provided plates and stones for other founders, but we did not do it for soror Little when we had the service in 2008. I think this is a wonderful time in the history of Sigma Gamma Rho." The event was held at Grace Chapel at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood. Born Mary Lou Little in Kentucky in 1896, Little, who married twice, was one of seven schoolteachers who founded the sorority on the campus of Butler University. She died in Los Angeles in 1992.
