The 2020 Gili Air 10’6’’ is a entry-level, inexpensive, lightweight paddleboard that provides solid performance at a very affordable price. We’ve given it a 8.6 out of 10 for its solid performance and stability, great kit value, multiple color options, beginner friendliness, and ocean charity efforts.

The Gili AIR is a 10’6’’ long SUP, and measures 31’’ wide at its center with a 6’’ board thickness. While being an entry-level board for beginners, the great maneuverability makes it very fun and a viable option for intermediate and advanced paddlers alike. Overall stability, tracking, and glide are solid enough for most adult paddlers, though it can have some trouble when the wind and chop picks up. The Gili Air is a very fun board for lakes, bays, marinas, and other still water environments, though be careful if you intend to take it somewhere rougher like a river or the greater ocean.

This paddleboard is great for beginners trying to learn how to SUP, especially young adults, teenagers, or shorter adult paddlers. As an all-around board, you can try out and sample the myriad of water sports made possible with a paddleboard. You can have fun paddling with your friends or have a stable and sleek platform that you can rely on for a casual day on the lake. The very soft deck pad doesn’t offer a ton of grip support, but the soft and fuzzy EVA foam does make it great for water SUP yoga. There are all 15 D-rings and a nose bungee cargo area that you can use to secure dry bags, coolers, and other containers or accessories so you can bring food, music, and other toys to make your water trip even better!

The 2020 Gili Air is built with a single layer of military-grade PVC that protects a tight drop-stitch core, offering moderate protection but keeping the board incredibly light. You can have the occasional drop or crash with the GILI Air 10’6’’ SUP and emerge with little to no damage, be it from hitting another SUP to running over a tree in the water. While we would like another layer of protection for even superior durability, the single-layer ensures the Air weighs just 19 lbs! The overall weight capacity of the Air starts at about 280 lbs for beginners, but we believe most intermediate and above paddlers can exceed 300 lbs without too much issue.

This paddleboard relies on a tri-fin setup, with a removable center quick-lock fin and two non-removable molded plastic fins. When all three fins are used together, you will feel improvements in your tracking, stability, and speed/glide of your paddleboard. Other accessories included with the Gili Air 2020 kit includes a single-chamber pump, a 10’ coiled leash, a repair kit, a 34 ounce aluminum paddle, and a roomy travel backpack. The strong PVC build of the board should make serious structural injuries difficult, but if something does go wrong the GILI Air has a 60-day guarantee and a 2-year warranty as well.
