(28 Apr 2019) Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Alhakim met his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, at the foreign ministry in Baghdad.
Alhakim and Cavusoglu used their talks on Sunday to discuss strategic relations and the importance of achieving common interests in various fields between the two countries.
Cavusoglu is expected to next visit Irbil, where he will discuss bilateral relations and regional developments with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
Cavusoglu's visit to Iraq comes after US President Donald Trump declared that he is ending an exception on unilateral sanctions for several countries which import oil from Iran, including Turkey.
