A massive hit in Australia, 'It Is Because I'm Indian?' was borne out of an event which happened to him. His friend, who found the incident funny insisted that Rajendra, or Raj write about it. Raj took three weeks to write it, edit it and submit it to Short + Sweet Festival in Sydney. Two days after submitting it, the play was accepted and the rest, as they say, is history.
Expect a brutally honest encounter of Raj battling stereotypes and bullies in this play. In this autobiographical romp, Raj is reborn and takes us on a rollicking ride of laughter and tears. This one man show, packed to rafters with colourful characters, reminds us that everyone has their own “fragrant curry of magical realism!”
