Purpose: Learn about the tools to make course content accessible to all users and comply with Student Accessibility (SAILS) recommendations.
Ally -- Ally works supplementary with Canvas to gauge additional accessibility conditions of course content. Additionally, it provides guidance and tips for lasting improvements to a content to comply with accessibility standards.
Canvas's Accessibility Checker -- The Canvas Rich Content Editor includes an accessibility tool that checks common accessibility errors within the editor.
Topics in this session will include:
- Using Canvas's Accessibility checker,
- A walkthrough of the Ally program,
- How to understand and adjust content to accessibility recommendation standards,
- Offering alternative file formats for users to download, and
- Best practice and benefits of accessibility standardizing.
Target Audience: ASU Educators and Designers with experience and access to an ASU Canvas course and previous experience using Canvas is recommended to quickly navigate multiple features being covered. No prior knowledge or experience in accessibility or using the Ally tool is necessary, but having document files or course content in a Canvas course is recommended to participate during the workshop.
