A simple straightforward video with minimal editing of my day Trek To Kumara Parvatha. (No camping)
The Kumara Parvatha trek in the Western Ghats of Karnataka is classified as a Moderate-Difficult grade trek according to many. However, a trek is easy or difficult based on the trekker so that always remains subjective. From the base, you will gain approximately 5000+ feet in altitude and also lose that on the same day if done as a day hike.
It is also known as Pushpa Giri Peak. Having said that, this hike is definitely a good and beautiful challenge in Karnataka and can also be used as a practice hike for multi-day treks elsewhere.
The base from which I chose to do the trek is very close to Kukke Subramanya temple and it is approximately 300 km from Bengaluru and 100 odd km from Mangalore. This Trek can also be done from the somwarpet side close to Sakleshpura or Madikeri district.
The Kumara Parvatha trekking route starts with a dense forest section and gradually opens to a steep grassland after the forest office midway. Day hiking to PushpaGiri Peak will be recommended with a good backup of healthy snacks and water can be refilled from the forest office on the way. The extreme humidity in this region makes it a little challenging as it is not very far from the Arabian Sea.
The Hike from Forest office / Bhattaremane to Sesha Parvatha is the steepest on this trek route.
This video will give you a fair understanding of -
