Toyota Yaris One Make Race 2022. The new entry-level factory-built racecar joins the Toyota Gazoo Racing Motorsport one make championship for the forthcoming 2022 and the first example was officially previewed at last week’s 43rd Bangkok International Motor Show 2022 on Toyota’s booth.
After the best part of a decade away from the tracks as a low-cost racecar in an official capacity, Toyota Motorsport in Thailand has recently developed the Yaris XP150 for racing ue and it will slot into the one make series in place of the Vios.
Although the Yaris XP150 has been in production for almost a decade this is the first time it will be seen in action as a factory-built entry level racecar. (Aside from Thailand, the production version is also assembled in China, Malaysia, Indonesia, The Philippines, Taiwan, India, Pakistan and Brazil).
The Thai market 1.2-litre engine has been retained and hooked up to a 5-speed manual transmission with racing clutch and cover as well as an LSD. The ECU is also remapped. There is a full racing free flow exhaust system and adjustable suspension as well as new Lenso wheels shod with Yokohama tyres.
The production cabin has been stripped out and a bespoke roll cage fitted along with other details including Bride racing seat, multi point harness, hinged steering wheel boss, Momo steering wheel, datalogger, kill switches and fire extinguisher.
The car also features a Toyota designed aero kit.
