Protests are elevating against the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, the death toll along with these protests is scaling also. As demonstrators took protest during a tropical storm on the streets of Caracas on Thursday, a 36-year-old died elsewhere of wounds he had sustained in other protests days before.
Opposition lawmaker Alfonso Marquina announced Gruseny Antonio Calderon's death on Twitter, calling him "another victim of the dictatorship."
Calderon was the fifth protester to die of injuries sustained in altercations with police since the latest round of protests kicked off. According to authorities, others include a 13-year-old boy and two college-age students.”
Alfonso Lopez Porras, a sixty-four year old protester, spoke with the Miami Herald where had no problem sharing his honest opinion about the socialist regime.
“Those of us who are on our way out of this world have much to protest,”
“There’s no bread or medicine. In every corner of Venezuela, this socialist project has failed.”
The protesters are calling for new elections and the removal of judges judged to be too friendly with the ruling Socialist Party. President Maduro’s presidency was called “a dictatorship” after the Venezuelan National Assembly was dissolved by the Supreme Court. Maduro called it a “historic ruling” before urging the Supreme Court to reverse its decision, which it later did.
