(11 Jun 2012) A bomb tore through a bus carrying civilians near Mastung district in Pakistan's Baluchistan province on Monday, killing at least six people, local media reported.
More than 30 passengers, including women and children were wounded, but officials have not yet confirmed the exact number of injured.
An eyewitness said there were 40 to 50 passengers onboard the bus.
"After the blast we rushed out from home, there was smoke everywhere, people were in bad shape and a destroyed motorbike was lying near the bus. Injured people were in serious condition," said local villager Manzoor Ahmed.
According to local media, the bomb was fixed to a motor bike and exploded by remote control.
Baluchistan borders Afghanistan to the west and is believed to be a refuge for Taliban and Pakistani militants.
It has also witnessed a decades-long insurgency by renegade tribal elders and nationalists who demand greater autonomy and a larger share of the province's resources like natural gas and oil.
The Taliban is waging a bloody insurgency seeking to overthrow the government, partly because of its alliance with the United States.
The military has fought back, but has had trouble clearing areas of militants.
