So, I did a thing, I did this thing with no idea how to make it happen and now I am raising chicks without a heat lamp!
Every single site I searched said the same thing, keep the chicks warm, 95f for the first weeks, as they are not able to maintain their own temperature until they feather out. You know what? I got to thinking that chickens have been a source of food well before heat lamps and then I thought to myself: Self, I always say this so I know who I am talking too) you may have a solution!
I am not an expert at raising chickens from chicks, heck, I have never had chickens before in my life! but, if you are interested in raising chickens without a heat lamp I may have a solution for you as well!
I am 100% off the grid and a heat lamp would just not be possible with my power supply, if this is your issue then watch what I have done... heck, if I can do this so can you!
Special thanks to the folks over at Hickorycroft Farm for the help in this adventure, they are a GREAT channel and really have some wonderful content. They will even answer your questions live each week (Like they did mine)
