Taking on a Lowland League side who are flying high at the top of the table was never going to be an easy task for our young Motherwell side, but they deserved more than they got in Round one of the SPFL Trust Trophy.

Conceding in the first 20 seconds of the match, Motherwell B had to show character to fight to not only get back in the game, but stay in the game.

After endless amounts of chances and saves from the East Kilbride stopper, Ross Tierney hit the post from a free kick and it began to feel like it wasn't to be for Motherwell.

However, Ross Tierney latched onto to a through ball and the East Kilbride keeper wiped the Irishman our in the penalty area and the referee pointed to the spot. Daniel Hunter stepped up to convert.

As it was looking like it would go to penalties, former Motherwell Bob McHugh stole it at the death for East Kilbride to send them into the next round to face Annan.
