After 16 years in power, Angela Merkel is nearing the end of her final term as chancellor. Germany is struggling to get the pandemic under control. A senior member of her party tells DW the country will be in good hands. Sarah Kelly asked CDU Member of the Bundestag Jürgen Hardt, about the conservatives' very public contest to pick a candidate to replace Merkel as chancellor, the government's mismanagement of the coronavirus response, and if German politicians will ever stand up to Russia or China.
