STORYLINE:
Forensic experts have uncovered a mass grave in north-east Bosnia believed to hold the bodies of up to 200 Bosnian Muslims killed during the Serb attack on Srebrenica in July 1995.
Relatives of the victims gathered at the site in village of Bljeceva, near Srebrenica, on Thursday, trying to identify the remains of their loved ones.
The grave, the size of a small football field, is filled with the bodies of dozens of young men believed to have been executed after Serb troops overran the predominantly Muslim area.
According to Bosnian forensic experts many were shot in the back of the head, then dumped into the pit.
Murat Hurtic said the grave could hold up to 200 bodies, but with parts scattered around the field, it would be difficult to be precise.
Bosnian officials have found a number ID cards which will help identify at least some bodies found at the site.
About 7,500 Muslim men and boys were slain over nine days in July 1995, when Serb forces broke through UN defence posts around the area. It was the
worst slaughter of civilians in Europe since World War II.
A few months ago, officials found a grave containing some 100 bodies just few hundred metres away.
