Behind the hurdles, delays in primary care for Massachusetts residents
A report from Massachusetts’ Center for Health Information and Analysis shows that more than one third of residents have had trouble accessing a primary care physician in the state. This combined with the ever-present threat of COVID-19 have many doctors on edge, overworked, and leaving the field. Doctor Katherine Gergen Barnett, vice chair of primary care innovation and transformation in Boston Medical Center's Department of Family Medicine joined Sue O’Connell to discuss.
Bonnie Raitt’s Grammy-winning song touches local heart recipient, mother of heart donor
When Charlene Slaver-Roosevelt’s son Joey passed away in 2016, she followed through on her son’s decision to donate his organs. This brought her to Hamid Mahdavy, the recipient of Joey’s heart – in a real-life version of the story told in “Just Like That,” the song from Bonnie Raitt that just one the Grammy for Best Song. Since, the two have formed a lasting bond and they joined Sue to share their story.
