The "Jay" call can be used to alert others of danger and can also be used to locate or attract other jays that may be in the area. The Blue Jay in this video is clearly communicating to another jay (his mate) who is a little further in the woods. You can hear the other jay in the background communicating back to the one in the video. As the other one starts to approach more closely, the jay in the video starts to give short little nasal-type sounds. Usually when jays are in close proximity to one another.
