Craig Beals explains how some ink can disappear when heated and reappear when cooled. Thermochromic ink pens are filled with leuco dyes which change shape as they are heated or cooled. When these thermochromic dyes heat up and reach a certain temperature they no longer reflect light and they become "invisible". Cooling them down causes them to change shape again and reflect light of certain colors.
