Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Erickson E-Track ratchet strap. This strap allows you to quickly and easily secure your load in your truck bed, your trailer, or cargo bin. It's designed to anchor to an E-Track system with the included E-Track fittings on each end. Now, E-Track systems are sold separately and available at etrailer.com. The spring-loaded fittings allow the strap to anchor quickly and easily, also makes it easy to move to a different E-Track slot when needed. So, I do have a piece of E-Track here today just to show you how this fitting would install. It's very simple process.
You lift up on the spring-loaded lever, and you rotate the fitting into place. Then you would take your strap over your load, connect the other fitting to a piece of E-Track, and then use the ratchet mechanism to tighten the strap over the load. To release it, you lift up on the lever, simply rotate it out of the slot. Now, the strap is made from polyester construction that's blue in color. It's very strong and durable. The ratchet mechanism is right here. This allows you to easily tighten the strap to secure your cargo.
The strap feeds through the mechanism. Right now it's in a closed position. To move it to the open position, lift up on the release lever. And now you're in the ratcheting position. When you're ready to release the load, or remove the strap from the mechanism, press on the release lever to open the ratchet mechanism to the fully open position.
Pull on the portion of the strap that has the fitting attached to it, and that will allow you to loosen the strap, release the tension, and if you we're to keep doing that, it would actually allow the strap to completely remove from the ratcheting mechanism. You'll notice that the ratcheting mechanism is a steel construction with protective finishing to keep it safe from rust and corrosion. It's got a nice, large handle, so it's very easy to grab onto, even if you're wearing gloves. And it's got the nice, large release lever for when you're ready to release tension and unload your gear. The fittings are also made from steel and feature that same protective finishing that the mechanism does here, to keep it safe from rust and corrosion. The strap itself is a two inch wide strap. It measures 12 foot long.
Maximum load or break strength is 3,500 pounds, and the safe working load limit is 1,166 pounds. Please note that tie down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit, so the weight of the secure cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps being used. That's gonna do it for today's look at the Erickson E-Track ratchet strap.
