This is Sigma 105mm f 1.4 Prime Camera Lens.
The one I have here is for Sony E mount.
With outstanding 1.4 wide-aperture, this can be considered as mid-telephoto lens.
This is a great lens for portrait.
Let's see the build.
This is constructed using a Thermally Stable Composite material, along with metals. This is weather-sealed.
Solid construction. But this thing is heavy. Really heavy! The weight is about 3.5 lb.
The hood we have here is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, this is lightweight but durable.
Also, this comes with removable rotating tripod foot.
Filter size is 105mm. This is quite big!
Here is the focus mode switch.
And this is made in Japan.
You may need a separate bag to carry this because of the size, it may not fit in your standard camera bag along with other equipment.
For the demo, I will be using this Sony Alpha 7R 4. An amazing 35 mm full-frame camera with 61 megapixels.
Let's try this lens now!
Meet my model, his name is Coco!
The f 1.4 maximum aperture is great for working in low-light conditions. This also gives you control over the focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques.
This lens incorporates 17 optical elements in 12 groups, this is outstanding especially for a prime lens.
The focus area is really sharp, while the out of focus area creates a beautiful bokeh effect with highly natural colors, making this lens an outstanding choice for portrait photography.
The lens has Hyper Sonic Motor to produce smooth and quiet autofocus performance.
This is the flagship of the F1.4 Sigma Art line lenses. This delivers truly amazing optical performance.
Highly recommended.
