If you’re looking for a lush, tropical getaway for a few days, then consider planning a trip to Uvita, Costa Rica.
Uvita is a coastal town in the southwestern part of Costa Rica. It’s roughly a 3.5 hour drive from the capital city of San Jose (where you’re most likely to fly into), but the drive time can vary based on traffic and weather conditions.
Uvita is a popular destination for visitors because it’s known for its beaches, waterfalls, whale-watching, and overall eco-tourism. Here’s what we did during our 4-day trip:
DAY 1
- Pick up your rental car from SJO airport and make the drive to Uvita (you absolutely should drive during daylight, if you can)
- Check into your accommodation (we stayed at @casa_de_las_diosas)
- Enjoy a private chef dinner. Book with @theprivatechefscr
Day 2
- Kick off the day with surf lessons at Playa Hermosa beach with @south_surf_cr
- Then unwind for a bit at Catarata Uvita waterfall
- Have traditional Costa Rican lunch at @kinsu.restaurante
- If you’re lucky, join a baby turtle release with @reservaplayatortuga
- Make dinner back at the villa or stop at a local Uvita restaurant
Day 3
- Take a half-day charter yacht tour with @catch.relax, out of Quepos
- Get lunch and drinks by the Quepos Marina at Cuba Libre Restaurant & Bar
- Head back to the villa and enjoy the last bit of day by the pool
Day 4
- Breakfast at villa
- Pack up
- Make the drive back to SJO
