Scientists have already pointed out Van Gogh's precise observations in this painting, such as how he accurately pinpointed how Venus was shining that night. But as of less than a month ago, if you visit the Wikipedia entry for "turbulence," you'll find that it's at the top of the page: physicists have now determined that the painting predicted laws of atmospheric turbulence that wouldn't be discovered for over another 50 years after the classic painting was created.
