Please do not attempt to handle a bat, not only for your own safety but for the safety of the bat too!

Some bats may carry the deadly Lyssa virus and in the event that you are bitten or scratched by the bat, such bat will need to be euthanised for testing for the virus. Please contact and wait for your local wildlife rescue organisation to send a trained and vaccinated rescuer.
