The Hambantota Port in Sri Lanka is close to one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. The port opened with great optimism in 2010, but has not been without controversy. Last year, Sri Lanka leased the port to China for 99 years in exchange for relief from mounting debt, an arrangement looked on with some suspicion by India.
