'Using prevention and harm reduction to ensure we hit Scotland's hepatitis C elimination target'
This Scottish Drugs Forum and Hepatitis Scotland COVID-19 webinar focused on issues around wider prevention and harm reduction themes that will impact on whether Scotland eliminates hepatitis C by 2024.
The post Covid-19 economic landscape will likely be very uneven and the past experiences of drug services suggests prevention efforts are often squeezed first when money is tight.
With World Hepatitis Day occurring on the 28th July, this webinar highlighted broader thinking about how prevention and harm reduction contributes to the Scottish Government’s 2024 elimination target and, importantly, to also ensure there are no future outbreaks once the goal is reached. The presenters brought a wide range of experience, expertise and research that explored current issues but also alternatives to traditional ways of service delivery and thinking.
This UK wide perspective included three presentations from:
- Dr Jenny Scott; Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice, University of Bath and Pharmacist Prescriber, Turning Point, UK
- Dr Magdalena Harris; Associate Professor, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
- Dave Liddell; CEO, Scottish Drugs Forum
Chaired by Leon Wylie, Lead Officer, Hepatitis Scotland.
Webinar held on 24 July 2020
