QIC has been investing in private equity since 2005 and their 3 core investment components are:
1. Fund investing
2. Co-investing
3. Direct investing
They have a global programme without a domestic bias towards Australia (only 5% of their investments).
They look for the best opportunities and benchmark globally - finding the best managers within regions and within strategies.
Their investment in Asia mainly revolves around venture capital and growth equity.
QIC maintains a cautious approach to Asia with fewer relationships, but closer relationships. The general focus on Asia as part of their investment portfolio will continue to increase going forward.
