Mutanjan similar to Zarda, is a traditional sweet rice dish which is most commonly made for functions such as Weddings, Eid, or Dinner Parties. Mutanjun is best served hot as soon as it is cooked. The only real difference between Mutanjan and Zarda is the addition of fruits, such as sultanas, cherries and coconut to the Mutanjan, this can be left out if you wish to have a Zarda style dish.
Mutanjan is colourful rainbow sweet rice and is a must for any special occasions. it is typically served garnished with dry fruits and nuts, making it a wonderful dessert dish. A must on the Pakistani wedding menu.

Mutanjan Ingredients:
1/2 cup clarified butter
2 cups of basmati rice
1 full kettle of boiled water or 8 cups
1/3 cup of dry coconut slithers and almonds (halved)
12 glaće cherries (halved)
1/4 cup green sultanas
6 green cardamoms
1.5 cups of sugar
1 cup of water
Less than 1/4 teaspoon of food colouring in red, green & deep orange
