The rim strip is often overlooked part that should be replaced as they wear. Rubber or plastic rim strips are more quickly susceptible to “sinking” into the rim. I can’t speak more highly of using a cloth rim tape. It’s soft, strong, and lasts for years. Since it’s adhesive, there’s little chance that it can shift around in the rim channel.
