Iskar gorge is a picturesque place, offering beautiful views not only for the travelers, but also for the trainspotters. It is situated in northern direction from Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. The gorge has been formed thousands of years ago by the Iskar river which cut the Balkan mountain range in order to reach the lower parts of the country at the north and also the Danube river.
The railway line through the gorge has a relatively good train traffic (for the BG standard), mostly by passenger trains. Almost all of the trains from Sofia towards the big cities in Northern Bulgaria are passing through the gorge.
In the compilation you will see most of the daily regional and IC trains which are passing through the gorge and also some of the usual and also unusual freight trains. I'll be glad to see a little bit more freight traffic passing through there. Currently there is only a single pair of freight trains of the state operator BDZ Cargo which is constantly running every day.
