EUROPE DIRECT Letterkenny is one of seven such centres throughout the country. The aim of each centre is to help all citizens European or otherwise, to become more familiar with the structure and development of the European Union. In addition, Leabharlann Phobail Ghaoth Dobhair provides a satellite Europe Direct service with information provision in the Irish language. The Europe Direct provides a range of services, including free publications, brochures and guides; an on-the-spot question and answer service; computers with access to the EU’s Europa website – www.europa.eu; a meeting room capable of hosting talks, promotional events etc. on European matters and free-phone access to the Europe Direct call centre in Brussels.
Europe Direct organises Europe themed events to encourage debate and discussion on European issues. Events include multicultural workshops for children/young adults, exhibitions, storytelling from Europe, EU quizzes and regular class visits as well as various informative exhibitions on relevant EU themes.
