Scientist have recently used the ALMA telescope to look at the heart of the M77 galaxy and discovered that it's active galactic nucleus has two counter rotating gas clouds. This is very hard to explain. Could this be the first evidence that active galaxies are driven by active Birkeland currents? What does it mean for the plasmoid model?
