Pardon the dust, we’re remodeling. Ah, demo. It’s everyone’s favorite part, right? We had a lot of fun and got really sweaty, but the real …treat… was tearing out the powder bath tile.
Notice the jackhammer? We learned that the original “best practice” for tile installation back before cement backer was…actual cement. They would drop the stick foundation and pour a slab of about 4” to support the floor tile. It makes for a near-indestructible installation that was only fun to try and remove for the first 10 minutes. This is just one of the many reasons the main bathroom floor tile is going to remain intact.
