Tales of the Jedi really fleshed out Count Dooku and elevated the character. Today, we're going to take a look at one of the biggest reasons that Dooku left the Jedi Order.
Tales of the Jedi gave us a lot of awesome information on Master Dooku, one interesting note I wanted to talk about was why Dooku blamed the Jedi Council for Qui Gon’s death.
Dooku was mourning his former padawan’s death when Yaddle asks him if he holds the Jedi Council responsible. Dooku turns toward the green Council member and with a grave tone says, “Qui Gon Jinn has become one with the force.”
I think it’s obvious that the events on Naboo and the death of Qui Gon were a driving force for Dooku to leave the Order and lead the succession from the Republic.
Qui Gon voiced his concerns to the Jedi Council after his encounter with Maul on Tatooine. He told them that he faced a Sith Lord, and Mace Windu literally says that’s not possible. The carelessness and negligence of the Jedi Council led to Qui Gon’s death, and Dooku knew it.
This is the same situation that happened to Anakin. Anakin met with Yoda and told him that he had visions of Padme dying, just like the ones he had of his mother, and Yoda basically told him to suck it up. Again, this attitude toward serious problems was itself a serious problem with the Jedi council and was something that ultimately led to their demise.
