In this candid conversation we talk about the rich heritage of Dakhni, often called as Hyderabadi Hindi. Predating modern Hindi and Urdu, Dakhni evolved during the Bahmani Sultanate of the 14th century, where the North Indian Dahlavi mixed with Marathi, Kannada, and Telugu. It is a language in its own right with a rich literary tradition that was spread across the modern states of Maharashtra, Telengana/AP, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
