Class 2 of 5 of a Mixed Media Series sponsored by Spring Hill Parks & Recreation in Tennessee.
Mixed Media Project – Image Transfer
Supplies needed:
Laser Printed Image, color or black & white
Acrylic or watercolor paints in colors that correspond with your
photo
Paint brush
8x10 Canvas or Wood panel
Mod Podge
Sponge or soft rag
Spray bottle with water
Black soft charcoal pencil or black Micron marker White gel pen (optional)
Directions:
1. Apply Mod Podge to the front of your printed image and to the top of the canvas or panel.
2. Adhere image – Face Down – to canvas, smooth out any wrinkles, working from center to outer edges, and let dry. TIP: use a hair dryer to speed up drying time.
3. When completely dry, lightly spray with water and gently begin rubbing with your fingers to start the paper to pull away from the canvas. Do not rub too hard. Use the sponge or soft rage to continue to remove the paper, while leaving the image on the canvas. You may need to apply more water from time to time. Just be patient, and try not to rub all the way thru to the canvas.
4. Enhance your transfer with acrylic or watercolor paints. Allow to dry.
5. Use black and white markers to apply shadows and highlights as needed. TIP: You may want to spray a sealer (Workable Fixatif found at Walmart or hobby stores) to your finished piece after it has completely dried.
