How much does the British Prime minister earn and how was one prime minister earning over £3,700 an hour for every hour they were in office?
The PM gets two salaries, one is for being an MP and another for being the PM. The salary for being an MP is £84,144 per year whilst the additional salary for the role of Prime minister is £80,807, although Sunak is only claiming £74,440 of that.
That puts the total entitled amount earnt a year to £164,951. On top of this you shall also get expenses and a free place to squat at 10 downing street.
However, things start to get a bit wild with allowances. Former PMs are entitled to a £115,000 Public Duty Costs Allowance. This is for life. Now the craziest part about this allowance is that there is no specified length a PM must be in power for in order to be entitled to this. Therefore, Liz Truss, who served as PM for only 44 days, is entitled to this £115,000 a year sum till the day she dies.
