While hearing the petition filed regarding the problems of sex workers, the court said that sex workers are also entitled to dignity and equal protection under the law. A bench of Justice L Nageswara Rao, Justice BR Gavai and Justice AS Bopanna has also issued 6 directions to protect the rights of sex workers. The court said sex workers are also citizens of the country. They are also entitled to equal protection under the law.

In many cases, it has been observed that police adopts cruel and violent attitude toward sex workers. In such a situation, the police and agencies should also be sensitive to the rights of sex workers.
Police should treat prostitutes with respect. Police should not treat them verbally or physically. No one can force a sex worker into sexual activity.
